Lisa Lystam (from Mjölby) is a young, talented blues singer & harmonica player attracting a lot of attention from the media all around Sweden with her powerful, soulful voice and intense style. She convincingly sings traditional blues tunes by artists like Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed & Lightnin’ Hopkins as well as original compositions. Lisa will be accompanied by Brian Kramer (acoustic and slide guitar) and Chuck Anthony (acoustic guitar) both originally from New York and very visible on the Scandinavian music scene for more than a decade.

Daniel Pearl World Music Days is an international network of concerts that use the power of music to reaffirm our commitment to tolerance and humanity. Since 2002, Daniel Pearl World Music Days has grown to include the participation of more than 6,700 performances in 111 countries. World Music Days is an awareness-raising program, not a fundraiser.

Background

Daniel Pearl World Music Days was created in response to the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl at the hands of extremists in Karachi, Pakistan. Danny's family and friends came together to work towards a more humane world, forming the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to promote cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications.

Danny was a talented musician who joined musical groups in every community in which he lived, leaving behind a long trail of musician-friends spanning the entire world. Commemorating Danny's October 10th birthday, World Music Days uses the universal language of music to encourage fellowship across cultures and build a platform for "Harmony for Humanity." IKG Benefit Concert For Garissa Project Kenya

Benefit Concert Garissa Project May 3rd 2009

Internationalla Kunskapsgymnasiet in cooperation with the Garissa Project www.garissa.se in Kenya will be having a Benefit Concert
Sunday May 3rd 2009 at Club Stampen (Stora Nygatan 5 Gamla Stan)
From 19.00 til 23.00. the entry price is 100kr (50kr for students) and all proceeds will go to the Garissa Project Girls Home in Kenya to help with continued education and prevent abuse to these young women.

The focus of this Benefit Concert with be Strong Women Performers and will feature;
Little Failures
Mia Lexi
Jenny Bohman
Karin Rudefelt
Zoie Finer
As well as other amazing local artists!

We will also feature students from IKG and Kunskapsskolan.
Brian Kramer will be hosting this event and his group will be the house band for the evening, backing up many of the artists.
